                               PTFE Back-up Rings

Backup rings are designed to prevent extrusion in rubber or polymer o-ring sealing systems. PTFE Back-up rings are the most common anti-extrusion devices used in dynamic and static sealing, designed to prevent the migration of sealing material into the extrusion gap under the system pressure. Our backup rings are made from several kind of materials, PTFE, TFM and PEEK and customized polymer materials. There are made of a broad range of compounds which are highly resistant to thermal or mechanical stress. Back-up rings are typically associated with the use of O-Rings. However, they are also utilized with different types of piston seals, T-seals, and infrequently U-Seals.

The back-up ring’s performance is largely influenced by the component from which it is built. Use a material that is both tough enough to withstand extrusion and elastic enough to have enough memory to make installation simple. For example, the back-up ring should expand during installation but then return to its previous size and form. HONGDA back-up rings help reduce costly downtime and ensure long-term functional

Technical standard
Mechanical seals often need to be used in chemical applications. PTFE will handle most chemical applications, chemical attack is no longer an issue. One the down side PTFE wedges can cause fretting of your sleeve or shaft if you have not hard surfaced your shaft or sleeve. The stationary element of your seal will require a PTFE gasket.Choice for O-Ring & Gasket Materials
