Backup rings are designed to prevent extrusion in rubber or polymer o-ring sealing systems. PEEK backup rings are protective and supporting elements made of anti extrusion materials. They are installed in grooves together with elastic seals. PEEK is a semi-crystalline, show high stiffness and hardness, has an unique high tensile strength and With a continuous service temperature of 260 ℃, PEEK is used for backup rings for O-rings under high pressure or as a v-packing support ring or thrust ring.

Depending on the application requirements, our backup rings are made of PEEK, carbon PEEK, Virin PTFE, filled PTFE.

The back-up ring’s performance is largely influenced by the component from which it is built. Use a material that is both tough enough to withstand extrusion and elastic enough to have enough memory to make installation simple. For example, the back-up ring should expand during installation but then return to its previous size and form.
